Innovation

GAF is always working on new and better ways to protect homes, buildings and our planet. We are committed to making our products better, stronger, safer and in more sustainable ways that are faster and easier to install.

Take your best. Make it better. That’s innovation.

With our industry-leading portfolio of patents and product, GAF takes innovation in the roofing industry seriously. And we are just getting started.

LayerLock™ Technology

LayerLock™ Technology mechanically fuses the common bond between overlapping shingle layers. The added strength at the common bond powers the StrikeZone™ nailing area - the industries widest nail zone.

EnergyGuard™ NH Polyiso Roof Insulation

EnergyGuard Non-Halogenated Polyiso Roof Insulation boards offer all the performance and flame retardance you rely on, now free of any halogenated components - a great choice for more sustainable building design.

GAF Time-Release Algae-Fighting Technology

Specially-engineered capsules are infused throughout with thousands of copper microsites, which release copper steadily over time, for long-lasting algae-fighting power. It’s algae resistance so powerful it allows us to offer a 25-year StainGuard Plus Algae Protection Limited Warranty against blue-green algae discoloration on many of our most popular products.*

* 25-year StainGuard Plus™ Algae Protection Limited Warranty against blue-green algae discoloration is available only on products sold in packages bearing the StainGuard Plus™ logo. See GAF Shingle & Accessory Limited Warranty for complete coverage and restrictions and qualifying products.

We are reimagining the ways we live, creating better technology with practical applications to help us keep our promise to protect what matters most. In 1994, GAF's manufacturing plant in Shafter, California opened with a 19-year-old Ruben as an Operator on the original starting crew. While he only planned on staying for five years, Ruben remained on the Shafter team, holding various roles from Operator to Process End Leader to Shift Supervisor. He then took on more responsibility as Production Shift Lead for about five years. After his time on the line, Ruben then was granted an Electrical Apprenticeship, shifting the trajectory of his roles. He held positions as the Electrician Onsite, Electrical Team Lead, and Electrical Controls Specialist – a role he held for about seven years. He then was promoted to Senior Controls Specialist, until he most recently was selected as the Manager for GAF's new Incubation Center. In this role, he supports the hands-on installation, troubleshooting, and technology evaluation to accelerate innovation across GAF.
